When I'm not at the office (or in the field) designing for clients, I love sitting down to a good craft project. My mom can attest to years of paper clippings, hot glue, and the endless sewing projects I always had going. Life now is busy and full, but somehow I still manage to have many projects on the go.....which is chaos at times, but I really do love it!
Good friends of mine were due to have their first baby at the end of January. I thought I'd get ahead of the game and put something together for the baby so it would be ready when she came. Of course, the little bundle of joy was over a week late, but she's here now and I'm excited to contribute to the adorable decor in her nursery. My friend purchased this paper chandelier from Pottery Barn Kids, and it adds such a charming touch to the room. My little project was somewhat inspired by this piece.
I started with a pile of the usual suspects: pretty paper, ribbon, stick on gems, linen fabric scraps, and some embroidery thread--all in soft baby pink, green and cream. I added a few great picture frames that I found in this color scheme.
The star of the show for this project is my latest and greatest favorite craft tool......I am so lucky to have one of these.....a Cricut!
I used the Home Decor cartridge for the little birdie cutouts--my friends nursery has some great bird-inspired pieces already, so it was a perfect fit.
The finished product is soft and sweet--just what I wanted for this delicate little girl.
And the finishing touch.....a handmade paper flower as a little package decoration. Now to get this wrapped and gifted to the new baby!
